Rock rubber band milk
feather cloth baby powder
sugar foam rubber ball Styrofoam
air flour dust
cooking oil sponge iron nail
ice wood soil
melting wax salt cotton ball

I am so excited to start this blog with this year's group! Remember to be polite if you disagree with someone.
ReplyDeletethat is a good thing to have as a resource
ReplyDeleteScience is so exciting this year i hope their is more to come in 6th grade. Mrs.Charles is the best science teacher.
ReplyDeletetrue
DeleteMrs. Charles is an awesome teacher.
DeleteI appricate those kind words Rachel and Skylar but don't forget to go back and answer the science question. :)
ReplyDeleteisdust a solid
ReplyDeleteIm not sure
DeleteI think so
Deleteyah it is
Deleteseriously, Alison
it is
I think it is
Deleteit probily is a solid
DeleteI think it is because powder has molocules and I think that is a sold, but the powder can brake but still it is a sold.
DeleteDust is a solid because it is not a liquid or gas and it won't take the shape of it's container.
DeleteI think dust is a solid. It is not a liquid or gas like michael said.
DeleteGood thinking! I love how you all worked together!
Deletebryce.rock sugar rubberband flour wood salt iorn nail ice liquids.cooking oil ice milk gas. air. not sure abut the others.
ReplyDeleteI think ice could also be a liquid if it melts.
DeleteNice thinking, Bryce and Izzy!
DeleteThe following things are solids.Rock, ice, sugar, foam rubber ball, sponge, wood, styrofoam and a iron nail are solids
ReplyDeleteI think you are "solid" on solids Arshee! lol
DeleteI think rock, feather, ice, rubber band, cloth, foam rubber ball, wood, salt, styrofoam, iron nail, soil, and cotten ball are all solids.
ReplyDeleteEvery thing that is powder I am confused with
Dust is a solid because it would not take the shape of a glass if you poured it in one.
DeleteI like how Michael responded respectifully! Nice thinking Michael and Jack!
DeleteI dont think dust is a solid.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if dust is a solid. I think it might be one.
DeleteI like how you responded respectfully Molly! Nice thinking by both of you
Deletei think a solid is a rock,soil,feather,rubber band,foam ball,sponge,wood,styrofoam,iron nail,and cotton ball.
ReplyDeletei do not know what baby powder is
ReplyDeleteHmmm What do the you think now that we investigated more today???
Deletejake i think it is a solid
ReplyDeleterock is, feathers are, sugar is, air is not, cooking oil is not,ice is, melting wax is not, rubber bands are, cloth is,foam balls are, flour is not,a sponge is,wood is, salt is not, baby powder is not, milk is not, styrofome is,dust is not, iron nail and cotton balls are
ReplyDeleteI dont think ice is it can melt.
DeleteI dont think that a rubber band is a solid Bryce
ReplyDeleteArshee I think a rubber band is a soild and that Bryce is right
DeleteThank You!
DeleteThe following Solids are,Rock, ice, rubber bands, wood, foam rubber ball, sponge, styrofoam, iron nail, and cotton ball. All of thease are solids because they hold their shape. The following liquids are, melting wax, cooking oil,and milk I am unsure about the others.
ReplyDeleteI disagree cotton balls are not solids
DeleteI think that garrett is right cotton balls are solids
DeleteNice discussion! Garrett who do you agree with Arshee or Carson?
DeleteSolids-rock,ice,ruber band,foam ball,sponge,wood,styrofoam,iron nail,soil

Mrs. Charles said she likes how you made a list
DeleteI agree with every thing Adam but flour dust and soil are solids.
DeleteI agree with you Adam exept for the fact that flour, salt, dust, and soil are solids and air is a gas.
Deletejust saying i dont know if a sponge is or is not a solid cause it has holes in in but i dont know. :D
ReplyDeletethoug, can you put a sponge in a jar, and the sponge will magically change shape? :/ (did that sound to rude?)
DeleteIt si a solid because it won't take the shape of it's container.
DeleteIt is a solid. Even though it has holes and is squishy. It is still a solid.
DeleteAnd what syonn said.
-Chingming
What about sugar? Is is a soild, liquid or gas.
ReplyDeletesugar is a solid. It stays in one shape.
DeleteThat is true sugar stays in one shape
DeleteIs it a liquid??? Is it a gas??? NO!
Deleteair is obviously not a solid because solids cannot change their shape and size and float around in the air. Air changes it;s shape, along with milk, melting wax and cooking oil. The only difference is that milk, melting wax and cooking oil are more packed together and do not float around in the air.
ReplyDeleteAir or dust are not solids because both of them change their shapes
ReplyDeletei'm afraid youcan't put dust in a pony-shaped-jar and have the dust change to the ponys shape, Allison.
Delete#1 pony-shaped jar. Really. and dust is a solid the little particles are solids. BTW you can have dust do that. But you need a wind current to make it do that.
DeleteI think dust is a solid.
DeleteI think that everything but milk, cooking oil, and air is a solid
ReplyDeleteThe items I listed are liquds or gases... :)
Roughly. :\
DeleteMelting wax is part liquid.
Delete^ last post mest up
ReplyDeletejust saying i dont know if a sponge is or is not a solid cause it has holes in in
is
thx
I disagree... I think it is a solid because it is something you can touch, feel, and you can't shape it. :)
DeleteJake you can squish it.
DeleteAlthough it is a solid because it will not take the shap of it's container.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Adam S. exsept that salt, baby powder, flour, soil, and air is not a liqiud because one little spec is a soild and air is a gas.
ReplyDeleteThe soild is rock,feather,sugar,ice,rubberband,flour,foam
ReplyDeleterubberball,babypowder,cloth,sponge,wood,salt,dust,soil,milk,cottonball.
The following are solids: rock, feather, surgar, ice, ruber band, cloth, foam ruber ball, flour, sponge, wood, salt, baby powder, styrofoam, dust, iron nail, soil, and cotton ball.
ReplyDeleteRock,ice,rubber band,rubber band ball,wood,iron nail,styrofoam,soil,baby powerder,cottonball,dust,feather,sugar
ReplyDeleteOkay, here it goes. Rubber band, cloth, foam rubber ball, sponge, wood, rock, feather, ice, iron nail, styrofoam, soil, and cotton ball are solids.(Almost chokes to the death for not breathing while saying all 13 solids in a row :)
ReplyDeleteI think these are solids:rock feather, ice,

DeleteI think so to
DeleteIs melting wax a soild or a liquid?
ReplyDeleteI think its both a liquid , and a solid because when it melts ,it becomes a liquid. But then when it drys ,it's a solid
DeleteWould Melting Wax be a solid???
ReplyDeleteI think melting wax is a solid.
DeleteI think melting wax is a soild
DeleteI dont think so
DeleteI think its a liquid and a solid
DeleteMelting wax is hard...
DeleteI'm pretty sure it's 50/50. Haven't you seen a candle melt? Some of the wax melts.
DeleteA cotton ball is a solid right?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it is.
Deleteyes
DeleteThe solids are rocks, feather, ice, rubber band, foam ball, salt, sponge, wood, cloth, dust, soil, cotton ball, baby powder, and melting wax(half of the melting wax).
ReplyDeleteIs a rubber band a solid????

DeleteI'm pretty sure cooking oil is a liquid.
DeleteI think that the following are solids: rock;feather; sugar; ice; rubber band; cloth; foam rubber ball; flour; sponge; wood; salt; baby powder; styrofoam; dust; iron nail; cotton ball; soil. Some might be wrong, so please reply if you disagree:D
ReplyDeleteI beleive Rocks,Feathers, sugar, ice, ruber bands, foam rubber balls, cloth, flour, sponge, wood, salt, baby powder, styrofoam, dust, iron nail, soil, and a cotten ball are all solids
ReplyDeleteA rock is a solid no doubt about it.
ReplyDeletei thank a rock a nail and i'm not share that malting wax is a soled
ReplyDeleteWood also.
ReplyDeleteya wax is not a solid
DeleteIce is a solid until it melts to water
ReplyDeleteme too.
DeleteA rubber band is a soiled.
ReplyDeleteyes beacuse it is not a gas or liquid
DeleteIs a feather a solid?
ReplyDeleteYes I think so.
DeleteI agree because it can't take the shape of a container and you can feel it (that means its not a gas).
Deleteyes a feather is a solid.
DeleteI agree because a solid is anything that is hard and all of Nicholas' stuff are hard
ReplyDeleteI think that rocks; a feather; sugar; ice; rubber band; cloth; foam rubber ball; flour; sponge; wood; salt; baby powder; styrofoam; iron nail; soil; and last is a cotton ball! One question, is dust a solid or not?
ReplyDelete:)
I think these are a solid- rock, feathers, sugar, ice, ruber bands, foam, rubber balls, cloth, flour, sponge, wood, salt, baby powder, styrofoam, dust, iron nail, soil, and a cotton ball.
ReplyDeleteI think the items that are soild are realy basicly ROCK ,FEATHER ICE ,SUGER ,CLOTH ,COOKING ,OIL ,RUBBERBAND, WOOD ,FOAM ,RUBBER BALL, SPONGE ,FLOUER ,SALT ,DUST, STYRFOAM ,BABY-POWDER ,SOIL ,IRON-NAIL ,COTTEN BALL!
ReplyDeleteI disigree with the cooking oil and the baby powder, but the rest is good!!!!!!!
DeleteSOLIDS rock, feather, ice, suger, cloth, cooking, oil, ruberband, wood, foam, rubber ball, sponge, flouer, salt, dut, styrfoam, baby powder, soil, iron nali, and cotten ball.
ReplyDeleteBut if ice melts it's a liquid.
DeleteTHat is true.
DeleteI think the items that are solid are
ReplyDeleteRock
Feather
Sugar
Ice
Cooking Oil
Rubber Band
Cloth
Foam Rubber Ball
Flour
Sponge
Wood
Baby Powder
Salt
Styrofoam
Dust
Iron Nail
Soil
Cotton Ball
Sorry actually cooking oil is not a solid but a liquid
ReplyDeleteDut means dust
The following are solids:rock, feather, ice, rubber band, cloth, sugar, foam rubber ball, flour, sponge, wood, salt, baby pouder, styrofoam, dust, iron nail, soil, and a cotten ball. The following are liquds:cooking oil, melting wax, milk. The following are gas:air.I thought the solids were solids beacuse you cannot change the form of the object.I thought the liquids were liquids beacuse they can take the form of its container.I thought the gas was gas beacuse gas moves around freely.
ReplyDeleteYes I think you got it all right and I agree with you.
DeleteI do not think that melting wax is a solid beacas it can mealt and become a liquid.
ReplyDeleteMelting wax is kind of a solid and kind of a liquid because it is not fully melted yet sosome of it is still a solid while the melted part is a liquid. :)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI did not mean to do that it said. "I am unshoure if mealting wax is a liquid eather."
DeleteI read the comant wrong, but Iam still not shoure
DeleteI dont think Cooking Oil is a solid becase oil is liquid.
ReplyDeleteit is a liquid its not a gas it holds the shape on a contaner and its not like a rock.
Deletecooking oil is not a solid.
DeleteI think it is a liquid because its oil
DeleteThat was sent to Andrew
ReplyDeleteA rock is a solid because you can not drink it like water.
ReplyDeletei think cooking oil is a liquid
DeleteI think the following are solids,
ReplyDelete.Rock
.Ice
.Feather
.Rubber Band
.Cloth
.Dust
.Sugar
.Foam Rubber Ball
.Wood
.Sponge
.Salt
.Styrofoam
.Cotton Ball
Wood is a solid too just like salt.

dust is a solid???
Deleteim not sure but probly not
DeleteI'm actually looking for that answer. Do you guys know anything about it??
DeleteI think dust is a solid. It is not a gas,and its not a liquid... And you can't change the shape of a pice of dust. So, I think it is a solid. :)
DeleteI AGREE because it's NOT a solid or liquid.
DeleteThe following things are solids:Rock,feather,sugar,ice rubber band,foam rubber ball,flour,sponge,cloth,wood,salt,baby powder,dust,styrofoam,iron nail,cotton ball,and soil
ReplyDeletei dont think that foam is a solid
DeleteIt is a solid because it has a define shape and size.
DeleteI think that these are a solid-
ReplyDeleterock,feather,sugar,ice,rubber band,cloth,foam rubber ball,flour,sponge,wood,salt,baby powder,Styrofoam,dust,iron nail,
soil,and a cotton ball.
Some might be wrong,so reply if you disagree.

ReplyDeleteis melting wax a solid
ReplyDeleteMelting wax is not a solid because it is liquid. :)
DeleteI think it's a liquid.
DeleteMrs. Charles do you know if a dust is a solid or not?
DeleteYes I agree with Izzy F.
DeleteI also think that melting wax is a liquid
DeleteI think melting wax is a solid. It is still a solid, but it is just melting. It hasn't become a liquid yet. Otherwise it might be called liquid wax.
DeleteI disagree because when it starts melting it's a liquid. So it's a liquid.
DeleteI think dust is a solid.
ReplyDeleteI agree that dust is a solid.
DeleteBut how would we know that dust is a solid? Is there like any proof or anything?
DeleteMaybe. I think there is but I dont know where
Deletecan somone tell me is baby powder a solid ,ummmmmmmmmm cause idk
ReplyDeleteA solid it might be little but it has a define size so it's a solid
DeleteI think the following solids are rocks,rubber bands,feathers,cloth,foam rubber ball,styro foam,dust,sugar,flour,sponge,iron nail,ice,wood,cotton ball,soil,baby powder,soil,salt.
ReplyDeleteIs paper a solid?
ReplyDeleteI think paper is a solid.

ReplyDeleteAir is a gas
ReplyDeleteAre pillows a solid?
ReplyDeleteYes they are. The case and feathers are solids. Do I have to always say this, JUST BECAUSE IT IS SQUISHY DOESN'T MEAN IT IS NOT A SOLID!
DeleteI agree because they have a define shape and size so they are a solid
DeleteThanks Dawson.
ReplyDeleteThe following are solids....
ReplyDeleterubber band
rock
baby powder
feather
foam
sugar
iron nail

cotton ball
dust
ice
flour

The following are gases....

Lamps are solid and plasma because the lamp itself is a solid, but the light in it is a type of plasma.
ReplyDeleteNice statement about plasma, Adam!
DeleteSolids: rock,feather,dust,sugar,ice,rubber band,cloth,foam rubber ball,flour,sponge,wood,salt,baby powder,iron nail,Styrofoam,soil,cotton ball
ReplyDeleteLiquid:cooking oil, melting wax,milk
Gas: Air
I agree to because a lamp is a solid because it isn't a liquid or a gas. Also light is a type of plasma.
ReplyDeletetoday we learned in class that the powder stuff like that and dust is a solid i am going to look up now is smoke a solid or gas or liqud
ReplyDeleteI think dust is a solid.
ReplyDeletestyrofoam is a solid.
ReplyDeleteAfter our discussion does anyone have any thoughts about smoke or steam? Are they sold, liquid or gas??
ReplyDeleteI think that smoke and steam are gases. Mrs. Charles I was looking online and in my brothers science textbook and it said that fire was plazma.
DeleteI agree because there not a solid or liquid right
DeleteI think that smoke and steam are gases.
ReplyDeleteAll of the following are solid:
ReplyDelete.Rock
.Ice
.Rubber band
.Cloth
.Foam rubber balls
.Sponge
.Wood
.Styrofoam
.Iron nails
.Cotton balls
The following items are liquids
.Milk
.Cooking oil
.Melting waxs
The following items are gases:
.air
i think smoke and steam are both gases. They are both gases because they do not have a fixed shape. Liquid takes up the space of a contaner but keeps its volume. Solid has a shape that stays the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure what state of matter smoke is......
ReplyDeletewikipedia says its a collection of airborne solid and liquid particulates and gases
other websites says that its suspended air so Im not sure what smoke really is.
though,
I think steam is a gas because of how its made of water vapor.
maybe soon I can find if smoke is a solid liquid or gas . But maybe fire is plazma
I think dust is a solid because I think it is not a gas or a liquid
ReplyDeletecorrect!
DeleteFor the question for Turning the Dial I think the answer is A.
ReplyDeleteWhat are planets?
ReplyDeleteSome planets are a solid and some planets are a gas. The planets before the meteorites are a solid and the planets after the meteorites are a gas
Delete
